Onboarding training with AI roleplayNew hires practice their first conversations. Before they have them for real.
First customer calls, first discovery calls, first one-on-ones. New hires rehearse them with AI characters during onboarding, get feedback after each one, and start the job having handled the hard moments already.

Why practice during onboarding
Onboarding teaches the product. The first conversations are learned on customers.
New hires read the policies, watch the videos and shadow a colleague. Then the first angry customer or tough prospect is the first time they handle one alone. Practice with an AI character fills that gap.
First calls and complaints
Agents rehearse greeting, verification, refunds and escalation before they take a live queue.
First discovery calls
New reps practice the pitch, the questions and the objections they will hear in their first month.
First one-on-ones
First feedback, first difficult conversation, first talk with a former peer. Leadership development.
The 30-60-90 onboarding plan
Ninety days. Practice in every phase.
The 30-60-90 rule splits onboarding into three phases: learn, contribute, work independently. Roleplay fits each one.
- Days 1–30
Learn and rehearse
Product, policies and the five conversations a new hire will have most. Each one practiced with an AI customer, prospect or employee before the first real one.
- Greeting and the first two minutes
- The most common questions
- Required phrases and compliance
- Days 31–60
Practice the harder cases
Real work starts. Practice moves to the moments that go wrong: objections, complaints, a colleague who disagrees.
- Objections and complaints
- Saying no with an alternative
- Handing over to a colleague
- Days 61–90
Work on their own, then check
The new hire runs the same scenarios again. The scores show who is ready to work without a buddy and what is left to train.
- Same scenarios, scored again
- Manager reviews the results
- Plan for the next quarter

- Challenge
- Prepare 500+ reps for a new drug launch on a tight deadline, without costly live roleplays.
- Program
- AI simulations with a physician persona on clinical data and objections, scored on the launch messaging.

Readiness by cohort
Know who is ready for real customers. Before they meet one.
Each scenario is scored against your criteria. The cohort view shows who can work without a buddy and who needs another round, so ramp-up decisions rest on evidence, not on a date.

Five C’s. Practice covers three of them well.
Compliance, Clarification, Confidence, Connection and Culture: a common way to check an onboarding program is complete. Here is where AI roleplay helps, and where it doesn’t replace people.
- Roleplay helpsComplianceRules and required steps
Required phrases, verification and disclosures become scored criteria in every conversation.
- Roleplay helpsClarificationWhat the job is
New hires hear what good looks like, in their own words, on the conversations their role is judged on.
- Roleplay helpsConfidenceReady for day one
The first difficult customer is not the first time they handle one. They have practiced it already.
- People leadConnectionPeople and relationships
Buddies, managers and team rituals. Roleplay helps with first one-on-ones, the rest is yours.
- People leadCultureHow we do things here
Scenarios use your values and service standard, so practice follows your way of working.
Fits your stack
Not onboarding software. The practice inside it.
Keep your onboarding platform and LMS. Practice scenarios open from your onboarding plan, and results go back to it.
- LMSScenarios as SCORM or xAPI modules
Assigned in your onboarding path, completion and scores reported back. Enterprise plan.
- Sign-inSSO with SAML
New hires sign in with their work account on day one. Enterprise plan.

FAQ
What HR and L&D teams ask us. Answered plainly.
Measuring skills across existing teams: skills gap assessment.
What is onboarding training?
The training a new hire gets in their first weeks: the product, the tools, the policies and the way the team works. Good onboarding training also includes practice on the conversations the role depends on, so the first real ones are not the first attempt.
What are the 5 C’s of onboarding?
Compliance, Clarification, Confidence, Connection and Culture. Roleplay practice helps most with compliance (required steps become scored criteria), clarification and confidence. Connection and culture still come from people.
What is the 30-60-90 onboarding rule?
A plan in three phases: the first 30 days to learn, the next 30 to contribute with support, the last 30 to work independently. The plan above shows what to practice in each phase.
How much does onboarding cost?
It depends on the role and on how long a new hire takes to work on their own: salary during ramp-up, trainers’ and buddies’ time, tools. Practice with AI replaces part of the live roleplays with trainers. The Reflection Team plan starts at €19 per user per month, billed annually, excluding applicable taxes; see pricing.
Is The Reflection onboarding software?
No. It doesn’t manage documents, accounts or checklists. It adds conversation practice to the onboarding you already run, and connects to your LMS.
Does the AI judge emotions?
No. It scores what new hires say and how they handle the conversation. Emotions are modeled only for the AI character, as part of the scenario.
